1) The A’s re-signed 2B Mark Ellis to a 2 year, $6 million contract, to avoid salary arbitration.

2) Reds RF Adam Dunn says he had a hairline fracture in his right hand for most of last season. He initially suffered the injury when diving into 3B in May and was later hit by a pitch in the same area. Last week, the doctor recommended a split but, even though it still hurts, Dunn refused.
