5) On Tuesday, Dick Dietz died at the age of 63.

Dietz was a C for the 1966-71 Giants, 1972 Dodgers and 1973 Braves. He was most known for, in 1968, being hit by a pitch that would have ended Don Drysdale’s consecutive scoreless IP streak, when Drysdale was pursuing Walter Johnson’s record. Umpire Harry Wendelstedt ruled that Dietz hadn’t attempted to get out of the way, so he refused to allow the run to score. Drysdale got out of the jam, broke the record, then Orel Hershiser took it away from him in 1988.
