1) The Red Sox re-signed P Josh Beckett to a 1 year, $4.325 million contract, to avoid salary arbitration.

2) According to NY Newsday, the Yankees think it will be a 2 team battle for Roger Clemens–them and the Astros–and, if they don’t sign Clemens, the backup plan could be a midseason trade for Andy Pettitte, if the Astros fall out of the race.
