1) A 4 team trade–

The Cubs get SS Nomar Garciaparra and minor league OF Matt Murton from the Redsox.
The Redsox get SS Orlando Cabrera from the Expos and 1B Doug Mientkiewicz from the Twins.
The Expos get SS Alex Gonzalez, P Francis Beltran and minor league 3B Brendan Harris from the Cubs.
The Twins get minor league P Justin Jones from the Cubs.

After 30 RCAA/.880 OPS and 26 RCAA/.870 OPS seasons, Garciaparra is hitting .500 SLG, .367 OBA, .867 OPS, 5 RCAA in his first 38 games. He has a .923 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773, and 248 RCAA in 966 games.

2) The Diamondbacks traded CF Steve Finley and C Brent Mayne to the Dodgers for minor leaguers OF Reggie Abercrombie, C Koyie Hall and P Bill Murphy.

After 19 RCAA/.869 OPS and 13 RCAA/.863 OPS seasons, Finley is hitting .490 SLG, .338 OBA, .828 OPS, 2 RCAA in his first 104 games. He has a .786 career OPS, compared to his league average of .758, and 117 RCAA in 2231 games.

After -27 RCAA/.619 OPS and -25 RCAA/.651 OPS seasons, Mayne is off to a .340 SLG, .343 OBA, .683 OPS, -6 RCAA start in his first 36 games. He has a .686 career OPS, compared to his league average of .765, and -169 RCAA in 1232 games.

3) The Padres traded P Ismael Valdez to the Marlins for minor league P Travis Chick.

4) The Royals traded P Rudy Seanez to the Marlins for OF Abraham Nunez.

Seanez has a 4.50 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.35, and -8 RSAA in 300 career games, including a 3.91 ERA/1 RSAA in 16 games in 2004.

Nunez has -10 RCAA/.479 OPS in 77 career games, including a .266 SLG, .274 OBA, .540 OPS, -7 RCAA in 58 games in 2004.

5) The Yankees traded P Jose Contreras and cash to the Whitesox for P Esteban Loaiza.

Contreras has a 4.64 ERA/-5 RSAA in 36 career games, including a 5.64 ERA/-13 RSAA in 18 starts in 2004.

After 5.71 ERA/-21 RSAA and 2.90 ERA/39 RSAA seasons, Loaiza is off to a 4.86 ERA/2 RSAA start in his first 21 starts. He has a 4.60 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.50, and 9 RSAA in 290 games.

6) The Dodgers traded P Tom Martin and cash to the Braves for minor league P Matt Merricks.

After a 3.53 ERA/3 RSAA in 2003, Martin is off to a 4.13 ERA/0 RSAA in his first 47 games. He has a 4.81 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.42, and -13 RSAA in 249 games.

7) The Dodgers traded OF Dave Roberts to the Redsox for minor league OF Henri Stanley.

After 9 RCAA/.718 OPS and -9 RCAA/.638 OPS seasons, Roberts is off to a .356 SLG, .340 OBA, .696 OPS, 4 RCAA start in his first 68 games. He has a .672 career OPS, compared to his league average of .772, and -7 RCAA in 377 games.

8) The Mets traded P Scott Erickson and cash to the Rangers for a player to be named later.

After missing the 2003 season, Erickson is off to a 7.88 ERA/-3 RSAA start in his first 2 starts. He has a 4.52 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.53, and -9 RSAA in 357 games.

9) The A’s activated INF Esteban German from the DL and sent INF Ramon Castro to the minors.

German has -7 RCAA/.547 OPS in 34 career games, including a .300 SLG, .283 OBA, .583 OPS, -4 RCAA in 20 games in 2004.

Castro has -3 RCAA/.388 OPS in his first 9 career games.

10) The Rangers called up P Mike Bacsik and sent P Sam Narron to the minors.

Bacsik has a 6.12 ERA/-19 RSAA in 19 career games.

Narron gave up 4 runs in 2 2/3 IP (13.50 ERA/-2 RSAA) in his only career start.

11) The Giants placed P Jerome Williams on the 15 day DL and called up P Merkin Valdez.

Williams has a strained right triceps.

13) The Mets designated OF Shane Spencer for assignment.

14) Astros P Andy Pettitte was scratched from yesterday’s start, due to a sore elbow.

15) The Pirates released INF Chris Stynes and called up P Mark Corey.

After -6 RCAA/.688 OPS and -12 RCAA/.748 OPS seasons, Stynes is off to a .296 SLG, .266 OBA, .562 OPS, -11 RCAA start in his first 74 games. He has a .734 career OPS, compared to his league average of .774, and -40 RCAA in 828 games.

Corey has a 6.85 ERA/-19 RSAA in 64 career games, including a 6.23 ERA/-3 RSAA in 14 games in 2004.

16) The Marlins sent C Matt Treanor to the minors and moved C Ramon Castro from the 15 to the 60 day DL.

Treanor has a .288 SLG, .316 OBA, .604 OPS, -4 RCAA in his first 24 career games.

17) The Dodgers called up P Yhency Brazoban.

18) The Pirates sent OF Tony Alvarez to the minors.

Alvarez has 1 RCAA/.807 OPS in 28 career games, including a .429 SLG, .313 OBA, .741 OPS, 0 RCAA in 14 games in 2004.

19) The Yankees are reportedly close to signing free 1B John Olerud.

20) The Devil Rays called up P John Webb.

21) The Twins called up P Jesse Crain.

22) The Mariners called up INF Jose Lopez.

23) The Royals called up INF Wilton Guerrero.

Guerrero has -53 RCAA/.679 OPS in 662 games, including -1 RCAA/.533 OPS in 8 games in 2004.

24) The A’s passed the Rangers into 1st place in the AL West.

25) The Phillies passed the Marlins into sole possession of 2nd place in the NL East.

26) The Reds passed the Brewers into sole possession of 4th place in the NL Central.

27) Carlos Delgado passed George Brett and Roy Sievers and tied Cecil Fielder for 86th place on the all time HR list, with 319.
