1) Ugueth Urbina was arrested in Venezuela on attempted murder charges. Urbina is being charged with attacking 5 workers with machetes and pouring gasoline on them.

4) According to NY Daily News, the Mets have had preliminary trade talks with the Devil Rays for RF Aubrey Huff and P Danys Baez, with the Devil Rays interested in continuing the talks.

5) According to the NY Times, the Mets are interested in Rangers 2B Alfonso Soriano.

6) According to the Detroit News, Tigers C Ivan Rodriguez could be on the trading block, with the Mets a possibility if they don’t sign free agents Bengie Molina or Ramon Hernandez.

7) According to NY Newsday, the Padres and Rangers have had Alfonso Soriano for Laynce Nix and Adam Eaton trade talks and the Padres are interested in Mike Piazza.

8) According to NY Newsday, Mets Ps Kris Benson and Steve Trachsel could be on the trading block.

9) According to the Journal News, the Yankees would be willing to put C Jorge Posada on the trading block, but his contract could make him too expensive to deal.
