Welcome to Doing It For Bartolo

Hello, and thanks for checking out the show. I’m Joon Lee. You might have previously seen some of the things I’ve written for The Hardball Times in addition to SB Nation, GammonsDaily, WEEI.com and the Boston Herald. This is my new podcast, Doing It For Bartolo, and I’m really excited to introduce the show to the great audience here on THT and I just want to take a moment to thank Paul Swydan and David Appelman for giving me the opportunity to share the podcast with all of you wonderful people. Here’s the logo, which I designed myself:

HardballTimesCover

I’m going to have writers (of both the sports and pop culture variety) and sports people on the show to talk about their careers, their upbringings and journalism in general, among many other things. We previously had on Jay Caspian Kang, formerly of Grantland and currently of the New York Times, and Mina Kimes of ESPN the Magazine and have a number of writers who have said yes to coming onto the show at some point in the future that I’m excited to share with you. I’ll also be bringing on my friends as well to talk about a wide range of topics based on their passions and expertise and I know you’ll enjoy getting to know them.

The show is not exclusively baseball-related. It will stray away from the typical baseball content you know and love here to talk about other sports, including football and basketball, and my other passions in movies, television and music alongside everything else that is on my mind. Hopefully, you’ll indulge me. Don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of baseball, too.

There are five previous episodes which you can all check out linked below.

The first episode under the THT banner is with writer Dave King. You may know Dave as dak from the baseball website Fire Joe Morgan, or as one of the writers for “Parks and Recreation” and “Workaholics.” That episode should be up on the show’s landing page momentarily on iTunes or whatever medium you use to consume podcasts. If you do enjoy, please subscribe and leave a rating for the show on iTunes; it does help get the word out about the show to others and help grow our community. I really hope you enjoy listening to the show!
