Despite posting gaudy numbers at Doulbe-A as a 22-year-old, Adams has plenty of doubters. Some point to his low walk rate (eight percent last year, seven percent career), others to his unathletic frame; just about everyone wonders if his 30 homers and .923 OPS last year were merely the product of a hitter-friendly park. If he has a strong 2012 at Triple-A, he may convert enough skeptics to loom large in the Cardinals’ plans for 2013.
