A-Rod hits 500/ Bonds hits 755

by John Beamer
August 04, 2007

Folks (and Matthew), it has finally happened! Two home run milestones were passed last night.

The 500 club has its 22nd and youngest member as Alex Rodriguez launched the first pitch he saw from Kyle Davies into the left field seats for a 3-run homer.

Bonds hit an opposite field home run on a 2-1 pitch after 8 days and 28 plate appearances after he pounded number 754 off of Clay Hensley. The ball hit the advertising hoarding and dropped into the bleachers below. Amazingly the ball then appeared to be thrown back on to the field, but it was later confirmed that this was not the 755 home run ball! Bonds will probably have an off day tomorrow and have a chance to hit 756 on Monday. This farce will be over soon.
