1) The Yankees might play a 3 team doubleheader on September 23 or 30.

Since the Yankees and Devil Rays will still need to make up 1 game, on September 23, the Yankees could play their regularly scheduled game against the BlueJays and add a game against the Devil Rays. Or, on September 30, they could play one against the Twins and the other against the Devil Rays. In case of the matter late, the Devil Rays are already scheduled for a doubleheader against the Tigers that day, which would be cancelled.

According to Yankees GM Brian Cashman, "All I'm going to concentrate on right now is making sure we get good weather [today.]" Looking at the weather reports last night and this morning, and looking out my window (things don't look good, although it hasn't started raining yet), I'm concluding that Cashman might be just as bad at controlling the weather today as he must have been yesterday. Then, we get an even bigger mess.

2) The Marlins tied their team record with a 9 game winning streak, tying the mark set in 1996.

3) The Diamondbacks tied their team record with 97 losses in a season, tying the mark set in 1998.

4) The Reds sent 3B Brandon Larson to the minors. Larson had been removed from the 40 man roster when he was designated for assignment on Monday.

5) The Royals called up C Jason Phillips and moved 2B Tony Graffanino from the 15 to the 60 day DL.

6) Braves P Mike Hampton was scratched from his start yesterday, due to a stiff neck. It's the 2nd consecutive time he was scratched and he hopes to start on Saturday.

7) The Marlins signed P David Weathers and designated minor league OF Chip Ambres for assignment.

Weathers had just become a free agent, after being released by the Astros.

8) The Angels are considering changing their team name back to Los Angeles Angels. The team needs the city of Anaheim's approval to make the change.

9) Mariners 1B Bucky Jacobson will have season ending knee surgery.

Jacobsen hit .500 SLG, .335 OBA, .835 OPS, 5 RCAA in his first 42 career games.

10) The Braves called up P Roman Colon and will call up P Jose Cappellan.

Colon has a 2.57 ERA/1 RSAA in his first 7 career games.

Cappellan will make his major league debut by starting either Saturday or Sunday.

11) The Mets called up P Aaron Heilman.

Heilman has a 6.91 ERA/-20 RSAA in 15 career games, including a 9.82 ERA/-2 RSAA in 1 start in 2004.

12) The Devil Rays released 1B Randall Simon and called up OF Midre Cummings.

After 5 RCAA/.779 OPS and -4 RCAA/.743 OPS seasons, Simon has a .266 SLG, .266 OBA, .532 OPS, -18 RCAA in 69 games (first 61 with the Pirates). He has a .745 career OPS, compared to his league average of .771, and -15 RCAA in 514 games.

Cummings has -35 RCAA/.693 OPS in 443 career games, including a .167 SLG, .154 OBA, .321 OPS, -2 RCAA in 7 games in 2004, which is his first time in the majors since 2001.

13) The Phillies released minor league P Paul Abbott.

Abbott has a 4.92 ERA/-39 RSAA in 162 career games, including a 6.47 ERA/-22 RSAA in 19 starts (20 games--first 10 G/9 GS with the Devil Rays) in 2004.

14) Mariners PH Gregg Dobbs became the 1st player in team history to homer in his first career AB.
