Around the Majors: Bonds has surgeryby Lee SininsFebruary 01, 2005 1) Barry Bonds had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee yesterday and is expected to miss some of spring training, but be "full strength" by Opening Day. After 161 RCAA/1.381 OPS and 115 RCAA/1.278 OPS seasons, Bonds hit .812 SLG, .609 OBA, 1.422 OPS, 152 RCAA in 147 games. He set the single season records for OBA and OPS, breaking his own previous marks. Bonds has a 1.053 career OPS, compared to his league average of .749, and 1496 RCAA in 2716 games. After 3.94 ERA/1 RSAA and 3.74 ERA/4 RSAA seasons, Nelson had a 5.32 ERA/-1 RSAA in 29 games with the Rangers. He has a 3.38 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.59, and 95 RSAA in 743 games. 3) The Cubs are reportedly close to signing free agent OF Jeromy Burnitz. 4) The Mets signed free agents INF Jed Hansen and Ps Scott Stewart and Eric Junge to minor league contracts. Stewart was invited to spring training. After 3.O9 ERA/8 RSAA and 3.98 ERA/5 RSAA seasons, Stewart had a 6.58 ERA/-6 RSAA in 34 games with the Indians and Dodgers. He has a 3.99 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.27, and 12 RSAA in 214 games. Hansen had -5 RCAA/.717 OPS in 87 games with the 1997-99 Royals. Junge had a 2.21 ERA/3 RSAA in 10 games with the 2002-03 Phillies. 5) According to the Denver Post, the Rockies are considering making a Preston Wilson for Mike Cameron trade offer.
