Around the Majors: Buehrle injuryby Lee SininsMarch 22, 2005 1) Whitesox P Mark Buehrle was diagnosed with a stress reaction when a CT scan indicated that he appeared to have irritated a foot injury that he hadn't been aware of. Prior to the tests, that was a fear that it was a fracture. Buehrle might be ready for Opening Day. After 3.58 ERA/27 RSAA and 4.14 ERA/8 RSAA seasons, Buehrle had a 3.89 ERA/29 RSAA in 35 starts. He has a 3.76 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.55, and 102 RSAA in 164 games. 2) The Giants sent OF Todd Linden and Ps Brad Hennessey, Matt Kinney and Jeremy Fikac to the minors. 3) The Rockies sent 1B Ryan Shealy, OF Choo Freeman, C Tom Wilson and Ps Scott Chiasson and Tim Drew to the minors. 4) The Nationals sent INFs Brendan Harris 1B-3B George Arias and P Hector Carrasco to the minors. 5) The Yankees released 2B Homer Bush. Bush has -40 RCAA/.682 OPS in 409 career games, including 0 for 7, with -1 RCAA, in 9 games in 2004. 6) The Astros sent OF Charles Gipson and Ps Turk Wendell and Carlos Hernandez to the minors. Wendell has a 3.93 ERA/25 RSAA in 552 career games, including a 7.02 ERA/-3 RSAA in1 2 games with the 2004 Rockies. 7) The Tigers sent Ps Chris Spurling, Craig Dingman and Sean Douglass to the minors. 8) The BlueJays sent Ps Mike Nannini, Jesse Carlson and Spike Lundberg to the minors. 9) The Padres sent Ps Danny Patterson and Marty McLeary to the minors. Patterson has a 4.14 ERA/25 RSAA in 350 career games, including a 4.75 ERA/-1 RSAA in 37 games with the 2004 Tigers. If you enjoy the ATM reports and want to support them, check out my other creation--the sabermetric baseball encyclopedia. Orders are now being taken for the next edition, which will include the 2004 stats and is currently shipping. It's powerful, yet extremely easy to use. Features extensive sorting, stat display options, and features that are not available in online and printed sources. The deluxe package has been greatly expanded, making it a much better bargain. For more information, see http://www.baseball-encyclopedia.com According to Peter Gammons, "There is no greater baseball tool than Lee Sinins' Baseball Sabermetric Encyclopedia. Get thee to Baseball Immortals and order the disc, haste post haste." The product Jayson Stark called "the best invention since the toaster oven!" has gotten even more powerful.
