Around the Majors: Devil Rays-Diamondbacks trade

1) The Devil Rays traded OF Jose Cruz Jr. to the Diamondbacks for P Casey Fossum.

After 0 RCAA/.754 OPS and 1 RCAA/.779 OPS seasons, Cruz hit .433 SLG, .333 OBA, .766 OPS, 2 RCAA in 153 games. He has a .791 career OPS, compared to his league average of .774, and 20 RCAA in 1058 games.

After 3.46 ERA/11 RSAA and 5.47 ERA/-6 RSAA seasons, Fossum had a 6.65 ERA/-35 RSAA in 27 starts. He has a 5.27 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.42, and -32 RSAA in 102 games.

2) The Devil Rays signed free agent 1B Travis Lee and designated OF Matt Diaz for assignment.

After -2 RCAA/.725 OPS and 9 RCAA/.807 OPS seasons, Lee had a .158 SLG, .150 OBA, .308 OPS, -3 RCAA in 7 games with the Yankees, before his season was ruined by a torn labrum. He has a .751 career OPS, compared to his league average of .775, and -26 RCAA in 856 games.

Diaz has -1 RCAA/.631 OPS in 14 career games, including a .476 SLG, .292 OBA, .768 OPS, 0 RCAA in 10 games in 2004.
