Around the Majors: Glaus returns

1) The Angels activated 3B Troy Glaus from the DL, called up INF Adam Riggs, placed DH Tim Salmon on the 15 day DL, retroactive to August, sent P Matt Hensley to the minors and designated minor league OF Barry Wesson for assignment.

After 15 RCAA/.805 OPS and 8 RCAA/.807 OPS seasons, Glaus is hitting .682 SLG, .391 OBA, 1.072 OPS, 14 RCAA in his first 30 games. He has a .857 career OPS, compared to his league average of .774, and 94 RCAA in 799 games.

Riggs has -5 RCAA/.646 OPS in 49 career games, including -1 RCAA/.388 OPS in 4 games in 2004.

Salmon's shoulder's bothering him. After 33 RCAA/.883 OPS and 25 RCAA/.838 OPS seasons, he is hitting .323 SLG, .306 OBA, .628 OPS, -8 RCAA in his first 60 games. Salmon has a .886 career OPS, compared to his league average of .772, and 325 RCAA in 1596 games.

Hensley has a 5.63 ERA/-3 RSAA in his first 13 career games.

Wesson has -3 RCAA/.574 OPS in 25 career games.

2) The Royals called up P Jimmy Gobble and placed P Scott Sullivan on the 15 day DL, retroactive to August 26.

Gobble has a 5.29 ERA/-12 RSAA in 30 career games, including a 5.58 ERA/-15 RSAA in 20 starts (21 games) in 2004.

Sullivan has a back strain. After 6.06 ERA/-14 RSAA and 3.66 ERA/5 RSAA seasons, he is off to a 4.77 ERA/-2 RSAA start in his first 49 games. Sullivan has a 3.98 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.39, and 42 RSAA in 558 games.

3) Cubs P Matt Clement had to leave yesterday's game, due to upper back and neck strain.

After 3.60 ERA/9 RSAA and 4.11 ERA/3 RSAA seasons, Clemens is off to a 3.44 ERA/19 RSAA start in his first 27 starts. He has a 4.31 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.38, and -9 RSAA in 191 games.

4) Marlins 2B Luis Castillo had to leave yesterday's game, after being hit in the right foot by a pitch. He says he's OK.

After 5 RCAA/.726 OPS and 11 RCAA/.778 OPS seasons, Castillo is off to a .349 SLG, .365 OBA, .714 OPS, -2 RCAA start in his first 121 games. He has a .721 career OPS, compared to his league average of .778, and -6 RCAA in 977 games.

5) Astros CF Carlos Beltran had to leave yesterday's game, after bruising his knee when he was hit by a pitch, and is day to day.

After 8 RCAA/.847 OPS and 36 RCAA/.911 OPS seasons, Beltran is hitting .571 SLG, .372 OBA, .943 OPS, 42 RCAA in his first 127 games (first 69 with the Royals). He has a .845 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773, and 96 RCAA in 853 games.

6) The BlueJays called up P Bob File and designated P Dave Maurer for assignment.

File has a 4.27 ERA/7 RSAA in 79 career games, including a 5.48 ERA/-1 RSAA in 14 games in 2004.

Maurer has a 8.87 ERA/-11 RSAA in 22 career games, including a 54.00 ERA/-7 RSAA in 3 games in 2004.

7) The Yankees called up OF Bubba Crosby and sent P Scott Proctor to the minors.

Crosby has -4 RCAA/.508 OPS in 47 career games, including a .368 SLG, .244 OBA, .612 OPS, -2 RCAA in 38 games (43 PA) in 2004.

Proctor has a 5.06 ERA/-1 RSAA in his first 21 career games.

8) The Indians passed the Whitesox into sole possession of 2nd place in the AL Central.

9) Barry Bonds watch--hit #696, is 4 away from 700, is 18 behind Ruth, is 59 behind Aaron.

10) Alex Rodriguez passed Carlton Fisk and tied Norm Cash for 54th place on the all time HR list, with 377.

11) Royals 3B Joe Randa hit his 100th career HR.

After -10 RCAA/.768 OPS and -2 RCAA/.800 OPS seasons, Randa is hitting .401 SLG, .345 OBA, .746 OPS, 0 RCAA in his first 99 games. He has a .765 career OPS, compared to his league average of .775, and -52 RCAA in 1254 games.

12) Redsox 2B Mark Bellhorn hit his 50th career HR.

After 25 RCAA/.886 OPS and -12 RCAA/.646 OPS seasons, Bellhorn is hitting .450 SLG, .377 OBA, .827 OPS, 11 RCAA in his first 107 games. He has a .766 career OPS, compared to his league average of .770, and 7 RCAA in 478 games.
