Around the Majors: Moving

1) The BlueJays are moving P Miguel Batista into the show up in the 9th inning role.

After 4.29 ERA/4 RSAA and 3.54 ERA/27 RSAA seasons, Batista had a 4.80 ERA/3 RSAA in 31 starts (38 games). He has a 4.46 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.39, and 18 RSAA in 292 games.

2) The Yankees sent INF Ferdin Tejeda, Cs Irwil Rojas, Ryan Hankins and Jon-Mark Sprowl and Ps Eduardo Sierra, Sean Henn, Jason Anderson, Marc Valdes, Ramon Ramirez and Brad Voyles to the minors.

3) The Rangers sent 2B Jason Bourgeois, SS Joaquin Arias, C Mike Nickeas and Ps John Danks, Michael Tejera, Jose Veras and Shane Bazzell to the minors.

4) The Mets sent 1B Andy Dominique, 2B Danny Garcia, OF Wayne Lydon and P Joe Nelson to the minors.

5) The Cardinals sent Cs Brad Cresse, Gabe Johnson, Jason Motte and Dan Moylan to the minors.

6) Nationals P Francis Beltran had reconstructive elbow surgery. The team thinks he'll be out for the whole season, although that won't be known until Monday.

Beltran has a 5.87 ERA/-10 RSAA in 56 career games, including a 5.47 ERA/-5 RSAA in 45 games (first 34 with the Cubs) in 2004.

7) The BlueJays sent Ps Dustin McGowan, Zach Jackson and David Purcey to the minors.

8) The Braves sent OF Jeff Francoeur and Omil Joseph, Cs Miguel Bernard, Brian McCann and Carlos Mendez and Ps Daniel Curtis and Gonzalo Lopez to the minors.

9) The Mariners sent INFs Adam Jones and Matt Tuiasosopo and Ps Rett Johnson, Ricky Guttormson and Jared Thomas to the minors.
