Around the Majors: Yankees tradesby Lee SininsDecember 03, 2004 1) The Yankees traded CF Kenny Lofton and cash to the Phillies for P Felix Rodriguez. After 9 RCAA/.763 OPS and 12 RCAA/.801 OPS seasons, Lofton hit .395 SLG, .346 OBA, .741 OPS, 1 RCAA in 83 games. He has a .797 career OPS, compared to his league average of .768, and 206 RCAA in 1728 games. After 4.17 ERA/-3 RSAA and 3.10 ERA/8 RSAA seasons, Rodriguez had a 3.29 ERA/8 RSAA in 76 games (first 53 with the Giants). He has a 3.41 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.36, and 42 RSAA in 498 games. 2) The Yankees traded P Felix Heredia to the Mets for P Mike Stanton and cash. After 3.00 ERA/12 RSAA and 4.57 ERA/-2 RSAA seasons, Stanton had a 3.16 ERA/10 RSAA in 83 games. He has a 3.76 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.38, and 65 RSAA in 968 games. After 3.61 ERA/5 RSAA and 2.69 ERA/15 RSAA seasons, Heredia had a 6.28 ERA/-8 RSAA in 47 games. He has a 4.44 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.41, and -9 RSAA in 508 games. 3) The Yankees re-signed free agent C John Flaherty to a 1 year, $800,000 contract. After -10 RCAA/.669 OPS and -4 RCAA/.754 OPS seasons, Flaherty had a .456 SLG, .286 OBA, .750 OPS, -5 RCAA in 47 games. He has a .675 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773, and -153 RCAA in 1000 games. 4) The Astros re-signed free agent INF Jose Vizcaino to a 1 year, $1.25 million contract. After -4 RCAA/.738 OPS and -12 RCAA/.646 OPS seasons, Vizcaino had a .374 SLG, .311 OBA, .685 OPS, -14 RCAA in 138 games. He has a .665 career OPS, compared to his league average of .764, and -192 RCAA in 1642 games. 5) Free agent P Carl Pavano's agent is denying a rumor that the Tigers have made a 4 year, $40 million offer. 6) Wally Backman was sentenced to 10 days in jail for violation of probation. 7) According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Braves have made an offer to free agent P Paul Byrd. 8) According to the NY Daily News, the Mets are talking to free agents RF Richard Hidalgo and P Mike DeJean. 9) Rockies P Denny Neagle was arrested on charges of soliciting a prostitute. Neagle missed the entire 2004 season, and most of 2003, due to Tommy John surgery. 10) The owners approved the Nationals move to Washington by a 29-1 vote (Orioles dissenting), pending funding of the stadium.
