Come Play With Usby Bryan TsaoMarch 06, 2007 The past few years, the Hardball Times staff has run a fantasy league, often in conjunction with someone's personal league, since, perhaps surprisingly, there usually aren't enough staff members who want to play. This season, however, we decided that we would open up our league to any readers who wanted to join. You guys are the reason we put out this site in the first place, and we thought it would be great to interact with you guys some more. The league will be a 12 team, head to head, weekly transaction league with the standard 5x5 categories. It will be run on Yahoo, with a live draft scheduled for Friday, Mar. 23, at 5:15 pm Pacific time. Participating in the league from THT will be authors David Gassko and Richard Barbieri, editors Matthew Carruth (author of a chapter on basic draft strategy in the THT Preseason Book ... real smooth Matthew) and Joe Distelheim, web developer Bryan Donovan and myself. Just to make things interesting, I'll be awarding prizes to the champion and runner up, as well as the team with the best regular season record. Prizes will include soon to be revealed THT schwag, including a t-shirt for the winner, a hat for the runner up and something to be determined for the regular season champ. If you are interested in participating, please contact me at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and send me no more than one paragraph explaining why you should be included in the league. We'll email those selected to join by the end of the week and announce on the site that the league has been closed once it has been filled. I'll also post the league ID so that people can follow along from home through the season. Bryan Tsao is the editor of The Hardball Times website. He welcomes comments, questions, and suggestions for both himself and the site via email. Commenting is not available in this weblog entry. Do you have a general question or comment for one of THT's writers? Send it in to our weekly mailbag We also welcome unsolicited op-ed pieces of approximately 500 words for consideration. We reserve the right to edit for length, clarity and consistency of style. Please include your whole name and location to be considered. If you have a comment about this specific article, please email the writer. Next Article: The Phelps Hypotheticals: Part 1>> <<Previous Article: THT Links: Rolling |
