Don’t worry, Red Sox fans

by David Gassko

The New York Yankees are now just five games back in the American League East, and Red Sox Nation is in full-on panic mode. It shouldn't be. The Bronx Bombers are a ridiculous 25-9 since July 2; that's a 119-win pace. The Red Sox are 19-14, which translates to 93 wins over a full season.

The Yankees have been ridiculously hot, and cannot be realistically expected to keep this up. The Sox have been fine. If they keep playing this well, they should win the division handily. And if somehow the Yankees don't cool down...well, you can't reasonably expect to outplay a team having one of the greatest half-seasons of all-time.
