Derek, you are a mindreader. I’m 4 picks down in my slow draft, and wondering if there are any opinions out there about Ike Davis. Do I need to take him with my 6th pick (72) or can i wait…
Thanks, as ever, for your insight. You’ve been a big help to me over the years, now going for the 6-peat!

not even a mention of his valley fever as a pretty decent explanation of his first half?

Yeah, Derek, you should look up and mention the bit about Valley Fever, even if you think it’s just people grasping at straws.

As a Mets fan, I was really excited about Davis back in 2011. I know he’s not the best player around, but I’m not giving up hope that he can step up and give the Mets some help.

“I’d like to see a step forward in plate discipline; Davis looked very promising in this respect in his rookie season, but has since regressed slightly, perhaps partially due to facing more curveballs.”

Ike also had somewhat of a personal war with umpires last year (at least early) where he would complain a lot and the more he complained the bigger the strike zone got. This probably messed with his discipline too. I mean yeah, he was a bit of a cry baby, but some of the called strikes against him were pretty atrocious too.
