John, I’d suspect that focusing on baseball and pretending that nothing outside of that world exists is the sort of thing that leads to a lot of ballplayers’ problems.  Would that we don’t similarly pretend.

Regardles, this is a baseball news blog, and when a former baseball player is involved in things that could cause him to spend decades in prison, that’s baseball news.  If this comes as a shock to you, it means that you haven’t been reading this site very long.

Criticize me? A live body and a dead body contain the same number of particles. Structurally, there’s no discernible difference. Life and death are unquantifiable abstracts. Why should I be concerned?

Snicker. Deriving from the first comment, you need to elevate your blog by predicting which current ballplayers will end up similarly to Leyritz. Perhaps you can start by examining the Cardinals roster for likely suspects.

@Ern:  easy.  Stallworth is still able to make millions of dollars per year, and can therefore buy his way out of trouble.  Leyritz is (obviously) in financial hardships, so he is subject to the justice system like us po’ foke.
