I agree with this way of thinking in auctions Derek, it makes everything a lot more manageable in the potentially hectic auction setting. It also highlights the importance of keeping track of how many players are left in tiers which you’re agnostic about the specific players. If only 2 players remain, you’re less likely to be able to sit back and snag one at a bargain than if 5 do. Helps you avoid over-bidding on low-mid tier players.

I really like this piece. I don’t think I’ve read anything like it recently, and I read a lot of fantasy baseball articles smile I tend to be someone who plays fantasy baseball a little too much with my heart and not enough with my head, so I’ve found it valuable to have a lot of later round guys I “like” and then try to stick with the tiers approach for earlier round players. I just did a draft for one league and ended up with Kinsler, Sandoval, and Andrus, guys I probably wouldn’t have considered drafting last year no matter their value. Of course it’s not the same as auction, but I’ve definitely been guilty of overspending to get a guy I wanted and then kicking myself later when a comparable player went for much less soon after.

What do you think about Euro Zone? Does it make a sense? This social, synthetic creature goes by money.
