I don’t see why this scenario is any different than say, the Blue Jays trading D’Arnaud to the Mets. It’s a unique, one-off event that is akin to a couple interesting players suffering season ending injuries. I presume there is no compensation plan if my ace keeper requires TJS between now and draft day?

The time to address whether some or all Astros should be grandfathered in NL keeper leagues was this time last year.  Also, it may be unrealistic to expect Altuve to steal many bases when they find themselves behind 6-1 in the third, which could be a frequent occurrence

Bud Selig’s plan is finally complete.  His Brewers are finally cemented into the NL.  What a douche.

I’m pretty sure that each team does NOT have 20 more inter-league games than before.

This issue came up in a keeper NL only league I am in and it was decided last year that we could not keep any Astros for 2013. The move to the AL hurt owners of Altuve, etc. but rather than be left with nothing they were able to get something of value for them.

Yeah, the Cardinals, whom I assume are typical, play a total of 20 interleague games in 2013, vs. the AL West teams and four games with KC.

As a practical matter for our 12-team NL league the software we use (CBS) simply could not handle an “NL+ Astros” format (or at least could not in the winter when we figured out what we were going to do).  Without the Astros, 12-team NL (23 positions) is incredibly thin talentwise.  We debated two options:

1) Cut a pitching slot and combine MI and CI into an infielder slot
2) Go AL/NL

Ended up doing number 2 and thus ended an NL-Roto league going back 22 years.

Rather than disturb 22 years of history, you should kick CBS to the curb and go with OnRoto.
