Braves designated RHP Bob Wickman for assignment.
Wickman gets the heave ho after apparently expressing his displeasure about being brought into a tie game on Thursday. Wickman gave up a walkoff homer in the 12th inning, leaving him with a 3.92 ERA in 43 2/3 innings this season. He was 20-for-26 in save opportunities. Braves manager Bobby Cox confirmed that he'd use a closer-by-committee to replace Wickman. He indicated that Rafael Soriano was the leading candidate to pitch the ninth tonight, but he also said that "anybody out there would be a possibility." Soriano is the best option for a pickup in mixed leagues.

Prince Fielder's suspension reduced from three games to two, and he will serve them Friday and Saturday against the Giants.
Fielder was suspended for accidentally bumping Wally Bell in an Aug. 12 incident. Joe Dillon will likely fill in at first base the next two days.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.
