Chase Utley homered in a fifth straight game to help the Phillies defeat the Rockies 9-5 on Monday. Utley also delivered his eight double to go along with his major league-leading ninth homer. He'll get Jeff Francis on Tuesday as he tries to go for a sixth straight game with a home run. He's 2-for-8 with one homer lifetime versus Colorado's ace.

Noah Lowry had an MRI on Monday after feeling a tingling sensation in his injured forearm. Lowry had planned to throw off the mound on Monday for the first time since his surgery six weeks ago, but he wasn't ready. Even if the exam comes back favorable, he would seem to be at least a month away. The Giants originally believed he'd be coming off the DL right about now.

Ben Sheets (triceps) will skip his start Wednesday and is tentatively penciled in to rejoin the rotation on April 29. "My first thought was to push him back one day," said manager Ned Yost. "But I don't know if one day would alleviate it. We want to see if we can get it gone completely." Dave Bush will start Wednesday in Sheets' place, but it could be his last turn for a while.

Chipper Jones (quadriceps) was in the Braves' starting lineup on Monday night. Jones left Sunday's game after aggravating the strained quadriceps that's been bothering him since spring training, but he batted third on Monday night.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.

Game of the Day
The Cardinals came back in the ninth inning yesterday to beat the Brewers in Milwaukee, 4-3. The Brewers had tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on a Corey Hart triple (really, a misplayed flyball by Ryan Ludwick) but the Cards wrapped two doubles by Brian Barton and Scott Schumaker around a sacrifice bunt to take back the lead. The game was close because Adam Wainwright and Carlos Villanueva both had very fine starts for their teams.
