What Does Zito Mean to You? - Barry Zito's name is certainly fondly remembered in Oakland, but across the bay in San Francisco there are some people who are legitimately concerned about Zito and the next six-plus years.
Dukes on the Block - Troubled TB OF Elijah Dukes is reportedly on the trading block; the Rays are looking to get some middle relief help in return.
Reactions on Benitez Trade - Six people you might be familiar with weigh in on the Armando Benitez trade in San Francisco.

Player News
Player Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldPrince Fielder crushed his NL-leading 19th homer and doubled Thursday as the Brewers edged the Marlins 4-3. J.J. Hardy also had a fine game, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, but he's still stuck on 15 homers while having to watch Fielder go yard in four straight. Fielder has tied Alex Rodriguez for the major league lead in homers, and he's tied for third in the NL with 43 RBI.
Marlins acquired RHP Armando Benitez from the Giants for RHP Randy Messenger. The Marlins get the closer they first targeted over the winter. They offered Yusmeiro Petit to the Giants then, and after being turned down, they ended up moving Petit to Arizona for Jorge Julio. The Marlins aren't necessarily helping themselves here. Benitez was 9-for-11 in save chances, and he'll continue to get the job done most of the time as long as he gets to enter with no one on base. Still, his stuff isn't quite what it once was and odds are that his knee will be cause for at least one DL stint before the end of the season. The Marlins might have been just as well off had they gone forward with Kevin Gregg and Henry Owens. Those two now figure to occupy setup roles.
Roy Halladay shut out the White Sox for seven innings and struck out seven Thursday in his return from an appendectomy. He picked up his 100th career victory in the process. Halladay, who was roughed up in both of his starts this month before going on the DL, allowed six hits and walked none in his fifth win of the season. The Blue Jays had only two hits off another fast worker, Mark Buehrle, in a 2-0 win, so the game was played in just 1:50, the second quickest game so far this season.
Jason Giambi will be sidelined at least three weeks because of torn tissue in the arch of his left foot. At least the Yankees have a better explanation now for his problems. Since the club plays in National League parks from June 19-24, the earliest we'd expect to see Giambi back in the lineup is June 26 against the Orioles. The Yankees will probably call up Andy Phillips to replace him on the roster and have Melky Cabrera and Josh Phelps pick up at-bats in his place.
Carlos Beltran is scheduled for an MRI Friday on the bruised right knee he suffered Thursday. Beltran said it hurts to put weight on the knee. He still hopes to play Friday, but it seems likely that Carlos Gomez and Ben Johnson will have to fill in.
Brewers placed second baseman Rickie Weeks on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 30, with right wrist tendinitis. Craig Counsell and Tony Graffanino will platoon at second base, just like they had been doing at third before Ryan Braun was called up last week. Weeks will probably be back after two or three weeks off. There's nothing in his wrist that he'd damage by playing, but the Brewers believe he'd be more effective if they can get him closer to 100 percent.

The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Game of the Day
Does any team play more dramatic games than the Padres? Maybe the A’s, but it’s close. This time, the Pads were losing to the Pirates, 2-0 in the ninth inning, when the Pirates’ Salomon Torres gave up consecutive doubles to Adrian Gonzalez and Mike Cameron (negating an awesome start by Shawn Chacon), sending the game into extra innings. Cameron won the game in the 11th with a solo home run.SAN DIEGO (4) VS PITTSBURGH (2) - FINAL IN 11 INNINGS
