Player NewsPlayer Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldEven though the Jeremy Bonderman's MRI came back clean, the Tigers have no intention of letting him pitch again until he's pain-free. "He has inflammation of the lateral aspect of his elbow—the outside of his elbow—and he will be shut down until he is pain free," trainer Kevin Rand said in a statement. That would seem to make Bonderman a long shot to return unless the Tigers go to the playoffs. Chipper Jones was held out of Monday's lineup after straining a muscle on his right side during batting practice. The Braves had to scratch both Chipper and Andruw Jones (illness) minutes before the start of the series that will determine whether the club has any chance of making the postseason. The Braves are listing both as day-to-day. Martin Prado started in Chipper's place, with Yunel Escobar moving from second to third. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. The Tigers were trailing the Blue Jays, 4-1 with two out, no one on and Roy Halladay still pitching in the bottom of the ninth, but they strung together five singles and a walk for a four-run rally to take the game, 5-4. ![]() Likewise, the Giants had a 3-2 lead with two out in the top of the ninth, but pinch hitter Jeff Salazar hit a three-run home run for the visiting Diamondbacks and Arizona held on for a 5-3 victory. Both of Salazar's career home runs have come as a pinch hitter against the Giants. ![]() Access THT’s stats here…
