Carlos Delgado went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBI to lead the Mets past the Marlins 7-2 on Saturday. Both homers were hit off a guy who should be in Triple-A in Wes Obermueller, so let's not get too excited. Still, it was nice to see him leave the yard for just the fourth and fifth times this season. He had gone the last five games without an extra-base hit or an RBI.

Roy Halladay (appendectomy) will come off the disabled list to face the Twins on Thursday, the Blue Jays announced. Halladay didn't seem at all optimistic about returning next week following Friday's simulated game, but he must have felt a lot better today. The plan is for Jesse Litsch to start Wednesday. Tomo Ohka's next turn was scheduled for Thursday, so he appears to be pitching for his place in the rotation tonight.

Josh Johnson is ready to take an important step toward returning to the Florida Marlins' rotation. The right-hander -- who's been sidelined by an elbow injury since January -- completed a bullpen session without pain Saturday and will throw three innings or about 60 pitches in a Gulf Coast League game at the Marlins' training complex in Jupiter, Fla., on Tuesday.

Padres OF Brian Giles went on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with an annoying bone bruise in his right knee. To take his place on the roster, the Padres recalled infielder-outfielder Paul McAnulty from Triple-A Portland. Giles missed five straight starts before the Padres decided to sit him down. The move was retroactive to May 20. Giles said he originally hurt his knee when he ran into a door in the outfield wall at Wrigley Field in mid-April, and tweaked it several days later chasing a fly ball at Colorado.

Twins C Joe Mauer is still not ready to return, although manager Ron Gardenhire said the catcher is running at about 75 percent. He'll have to get back to full range of motion in his strained quadriceps before he returns. "He's going to tell us. We can't tell him," Gardenhire said. He said there's not a target date for Mauer to come back.

With Shawn Green (foot) looking at the possibility of going on the DL, Mets rookie OF Carlos Gomez started in his place Saturday against the Marlins. However, the rookie didn't last too long. Gomez strained his left hamstring on an RBI groundout in the second inning and came out of the game.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.
