THT Daily: Interleague Day Twoby Matthew CarruthMay 20, 2007 Major League News for May 19Player NewsYesterday’s Results Today’s Games Standings Game of the Day Top Minor League Performances You can always find the most recent THT Daily at http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/content/thtdaily/ Player NewsPlayer Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldDavid Wright hit two-run homers in each of his first two at-bats and then was intentionally walked three times Saturday in the Mets' 10-7 win over the Yankees. Both homers came off Mike Myers, who should have been out of the game before facing Wright a second time. It was Wright's eighth career multihomer game. He also stole a base and came around to score a third run after one of the intentional walks. He hadn't been intentionally walked even once this year until today. Andruw Jones has been dropped to sixth in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. Brian McCann is batting cleanup. Jones is batting just .169 this month, but it's not like McCann is lighting it up either. He's at .250 with three extra-base hits in May, and he wasn't nearly productive as Andruw during April. Expect this to be a short-term change. Josh Hamilton was taken by ambulance on Saturday morning to Lutheran Hospital, where he was diagnosed with gastroenteritis. Given Hamilton's history, there's some reason for skepticism. However, since he's already been released from the hospital, we'll take the Reds release at face value and assume it really was gastroenteritis. He'll probably be back in the lineup within a few days. Troy Percival, who retired after missing most of last season with elbow pain, confirmed Friday that he will attempt a comeback. Percival would prefer to pitch for the Angels, but that might not be an option. "When it comes down to it, their bullpen is set. They don't need anybody," Percival said. It'd be no surprise to see him land with another AL contender, like the Indians, Yankees or Red Sox. Detroit would also be a possibility, but the Tigers might not want to go there again. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength.
