THT Daily: Lights Outby Matthew CarruthJune 27, 2008 Major League News for June 27Player News Yesterday’s Results Today’s Games Standings Top Minor League Performances You can always find the most recent THT Daily at http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/content/thtdaily/ Player NewsPlayer Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldJosh Hamilton is day-to-day after coming out of Thursday's game with a bruised left hand. Hamilton was hurt on a first-inning hit by pitch and came out an inning later. X-rays were negative. Hamilton still has a sore knee that he's dealing with, so the Rangers may want to give him a few days off. Matt Garza pitched a one-hitter for his first career complete game as the Rays defeated the Marlins 6-1 on Thursday. Hanley Ramirez broke up the no-hitter with a solo homer in the top of the seventh. Garza walked one batter, but since the runner was erased on a double play, he faced just 28 batters. He fanned 10 for the third time in his career. Garza has allowed two runs in 16 innings in two wins against the Marlins this month. He's lost each of his other three starts. Pirates placed RHP Ian Snell on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 24, with a strained right elbow. His throwing session on Thursday either didn't go as well as hoped or was scrapped altogether. The move makes room for Denny Bautista on the roster, so T.J. Beam gets a brief reprieve. He'll most likely go when the Pirates call up Jimmy Barthmeier to start Friday. Barthmeier could then be sent down to make room for John Van Benschoten, who will start Saturday. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength.
