Player NewsPlayer Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldTerry Ryan will step down as the Twins' general manager and be replaced by assistant Bill Smith. A shock. Ryan has had an absolutely terrible year, but he still qualifies as one of baseball's top 10 or so GMs based on what he's done in the past. His team has won the AL Central four times in the last seven years. It doesn't sound as if the 52-year-old Ryan is looking for a new challenge. He is expected to stay within the organization as a senior adviser. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.American League East Pwins Diff BOS 89 58 .605 0.0 93 -4 Game of the DayTrying to pull out of a death spiral, the Mariners mounted a big comeback yesterday to beat the Devil Rays, 8-7. Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the seventh (win probability of 2%), the Mariners strung together singles and doubles in the bottom of the seventh and eighth to score seven runs and take the game. Two doubles were contributed by Yuniesky Betancourt in the comeback. It was only the Mariners' fourth win in their last 19 games.TAMPA BAY (7) VS SEATTLE (8) - FINAL
