Jorge Posada reportedly has a tear in his subscapularis muscle and will most likely be placed on the disabled list. It's hardly a surprise that Posada's injury was more serious than the Yankees were letting on. Still, they obviously didn't think he was DL bound or they wouldn't just just designated Chad Moeller for assingnment. Jose Molina will fill in for however long Posada is unavailable. The Yanks will probably call up Chris Stewart for now, though they'll try to get Moeller back in the majors if he clears waivers.

Pirates released RHP Matt Morris. Not a surprise, but still a tough blow for the Pirates who are going to have to write him an $11 million check. He was 0-4 with a 9.67 ERA in five starts this year. "Matt Morris has been a true professional," said manager John Russell. "He's had a great career. He wanted to help us win, and it just wasn't happening." Phil Dumatrait is going to take his spot in the rotation.

John Smoltz complained of increased soreness in his throwing shoulder after giving up four runs in four innings on Sunday. Smoltz said the discomfort prevented him from delivering pitches the way he wanted. He didn't know whether another DL stint was in his future. "The next couple of days I should know what paths we’re looking at," he said. If Smoltz lands on the DL, the Braves would likely bring back Chuck James to start in his place.

Grady Sizemore, who appeared to injure his ankle Saturday, is out of the lineup Sunday. It appeared Sizemore sprained his right ankle while stepping on second base after a David Dellucci single. He later legged out the winning run at full speed, but it's not a surprise that his ankle is sore. Franklin Gutierrez is in center.

The New York Daily News reports that Roger Clemens carried on a decade-long affair with country star Mindy McCready. If only he'd officially retire, we wouldn't have to bother with stuff like this. The Daily News says the romance that began when McCready was a 15-year-old aspiring singer performing in a karaoke bar and Clemens was a 28-year-old father of two. His attorney denied that the two had a sexual relationship. "He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her," Rusty Hardin said. "He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her."

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Max Scherzer from Triple-A Tucson. Scherzer had a 1.17 ERA and a 38/3 K/BB ratio in 23 innings for Tucson. He'll be available in relief today. What happens after that still hasn't been revealed, but he has to be picked up in any NL-only leagues in which he's available. Mixed leaguers might want to take a chance of him if he's inserted into the rotation.

Michael Young left Sunday's game after six innings with an apparent hamstring injury. A day-to-day injury for Young could force Hank Blalock to the DL whether he's going to need two weeks off or not. The Rangers would probably call up Ryan Roberts to help fill in, with Ramon Vazquez sliding over to shortstop.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.
