THT Daily: Rehabbingby Matthew CarruthJuly 16, 2009 Major League News for July 16Player News Yesterday’s Results Today’s Games Standings Top Minor League Performances You can always find the most recent THT Daily at http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/content/thtdaily/ Player NewsPlayer Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldJed Lowrie is expected to return to the Red Sox on Saturday. Lowrie has been sidelined since April following wrist surgery. "Every day I play I feel like I'm getting better," he said Tuesday. "I know the major league game is different no matter how you approach it. No matter how ready I am down here, I'm going to have to shake out some rust, but I feel like I'm ready." Nick Green may be headed back to the minors, unless the Red Sox can figure out a way to dump Julio Lugo. Perhaps a release is in order. Carlos Quentin (foot) went 0-for-1 with two walks in a rehab appearance with Single-A Kannapolis on Tuesday night. Quentin played six innings in left field, representing a major stride in his recovery from plantar fasciitis. He has already racked up several rehab games with Triple-A Charlotte, and is about a week from returning to the bigs. His bat should provide a nice mid-season boost for the White Sox. Phillies signed RHP Pedro Martinez to a one-year, $1 million contract. The transaction was made official with a press conference Wednesday morning. Martinez is expected to immediately slide into the Phillies' starting rotation after two minor league warmup outings and is probably worth a look in NL-only leagues. He looked solid during six short innings at the World Baseball Classic and the Phils made sure he was healthy before agreeing to write a couple of large checks. It should be a fun experiment, if anything. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength.
