THT Daily: Rocky Startsby Dave StudemanApril 07, 2008 Major League News for April 7Player NewsYesterday’s Results Today’s Games Standings Game of the Day Top Minor League Performances You can always find the most recent THT Daily at http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/content/thtdaily/ Player NewsPlayer Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldGerald Laird homered twice and drove in six runs as the Rangers topped the Angels 10-4 on Sunday. The first homer was a three-run blast off starter Jon Garland in the fourth, and Laird later added a two-run shot off reliever Jason Bulger in the ninth. Laird also added a single in the third and an RBI single in the seventh while scoring three times. Laird is capable of being a quality option in AL-only leagues, but he'll need to continue playing well to avoid losing time to Jarrod Saltalamacchia down the road. Ty Wigginton has a small fracture in his left thumb and will see a specialist on Monday. Wigginton expects to avoid the DL if it's merely a hairline fracture. Still, the prudent move would be to reserve him for this week. Mark Loretta and Geoff Blum will see increased playing time. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. The Diamondbacks scored their only runs of the game in those last two innings. Franklin Morales and Edgar Gonzalez both had strong starts for their respective teams, but neither bullpen could hold onto a ninth-inning lead.Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 2 - FINAL
