Doug Mientkiewicz will go on the DL after suffering a dislocated shoulder during Thursday's game.
The Dodgers are expected to make either Blake DeWitt or Xavier Paul his replacement on the roster. Mientkiewicz will likely miss at least a month because of the injury.

Vladimir Guerrero is out indefinitely with a strained pectoral muscle.
The injury hindered his throwing ability, which limited him to DH batter to start the season. An MRI revealed a strain right pectoral muscle. Guerrero will return to Los Angeles to meet with doctors to determine the next course of action. Gary Matthews Jr. and Mike Napoli would seem to benefit most from his absence.

Braves manager Bobby Cox said he expects Yunel Escobar to miss 3-4 games with a strained abdominal muscle.
Escobar said he thought he could play tomorrow, but it's safe to assume that Cox will win out here. Expect to see Omar Infante at shortstop this weekend.

Alex Gordon will undergo surgery for a tear in his right hip labral cartilage.
More bad news for the Royals. Mark Teahen will probably make another position switch -- if not now, then when Jose Guillen returns -- this one back to third base. Alberto Callaspo and Willie Bloomquist can split time at second base. There's no timetable for Gordon's return, but it figures that he'll miss at least two months.

Grady Sizemore hit his third career grand slam to supply the finishing blow as the Indians won 10-2 to ruin the Yankees' stadium opener.
It was a 1-1 game after six, but the Indians scored nine times in the seventh off Jose Veras and Damaso Marte. Sizemore's slam accounted for the last four runs. He has 10 RBI already, even though he's batting just .214.

Jed Lowrie will not require surgery on his ailing left wrist.
Lowrie got the OK from Dr. Thomas Graham on Wednesday in Baltimore. He received a cortisone injection and headed back to Boston. "It confirmed the original diagnosis, which is good, so they injected the area at both locations of the discomfort," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "He's going to be placed in a splint for about five days before he begins his strengthening."

Standings

The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.
