Can you add estimated time of arrivals in the majors for some of the top prospects with each team? Thanks.

No offense, but I’m not sure what you are talking about in regards to Mitchell and Danks.  Both are 1st round talents.

Danks obviously didn’t go in the 1st round of the draft but he possessed a 1st round skill-set, but doubts about his power potential and agent (Boras at the time) led him to fall in the draft.

Mitchell was arguably the best college athlete in the draft and put up pretty good numbers in his first taste of professional play.  Clearly he’s a 1st round talent.

Whether either guy develops and reaches that potential, we will see, but when you rank John Ely above those guys you lost all credibility, imo.

Giving up on Viciedo so soon?  We all know that the approach is completely different in Cuba (patience is not a factor in the game).  He was clearly not overwhelmed judging by his strikeout rate.  Plus, it’s his first year in America, a year younger than the rest of the competition at AA.  Look at Ike Davis….power hitter with established power, and doesn’t hit a single one in his fairly long minor league debut.  I don’t think it’s a good idea to give up on a 20 year old prospect for one sub-par year.

Also, since when was Viciedo supposed to have a power/speed combination?  I’ve always heard of him as being slightly out of shape/overweight, with range problems on defense…not a speedster.  And for an interesting comparison, check out Miguel Cabrera’s minor league numbers.  His highest total in any seasons was 10 homeruns if I remember correctly.  Power doesn’t always manifest itself in game numbers immediately.

I disagree with Jason comments that Mitchell and Danks have more talent than John Ely. I do not know what the writer was basing his argument on but it would be great if he validates his thoughts! I am looking forward to your post Jason!- Jordan
