I think the Forbes assessment is completely accurate. Having lived and worked in many of the nation’s baseball markets, there is nowhere else where an entire region (not just a city or a state) is so focused on a team. Simply put Red Sox fans are the greatest, of course we have a great team to root for. I can’t imagine being a Mets or Cardinals fan…..

Baseball players from both leagues, on teams from east coast to west coast, consistently say that St. Louis is far and away the best baseball city in America. I’ll put the Gateway City up against those bean-eaters in the Pepsi challenge any day of the week. Boston is overhyped due to the number of Boston-area natives working in the sports media.
