We need to draft a new copy editor!

by Bryan Tsao
September 08, 2009

As I write this post, I can't believe that it's been almost three years since we've brought another copy editor on board. Since that time, we've added three whole new blogs (fantasy, ShysterBall and a revamped THT Live) and scores of new writers. One of the things we pride ourselves on is that most of our content gets looked over by an editor before being published, and given the sheer amount of content we're producing, we could definitely use another person around to help us out a couple nights a week.

So basically, we're looking for someone with journalism or other editing experience and a passion for baseball to join our team. At first, you'd start off editing other people's articles a couple nights a week, but the position is flexible and definitely one you can grow with. All THT staffers are unpaid during the year, but participate in a profit share once a year.

If that sounds interesting, send me an email with a rundown of relevant experience and why you want to join our staff at bryan (dot) p (dot) tsao (at) gmail and include "THT Copy Editor" in the subject.

Basic requirements

  • Editing experience
  • Comfortable with AP Style
  • Reliable and able to work independently
  • Basic knowledge of HTML (ie. can make things bold, add a link)
  • Available to edit two to three articles a couple nights a week

Bryan Tsao is the editor of The Hardball Times website. He welcomes comments, questions, and suggestions for both himself and the site via email.
