Eric Seidman takes a look over at FanGraphs. Tigers fans might not be happy. Seidman identifies the main culprit as being a decrease in strikeout rate and an increase in walk rate, and attributes it to a decrease in average fastball velocity from 94.8 mph to 93.0 mph. While it seems as good an explanation as any, I'm not convinced that 2 mph would make such a big difference, though I definitely don't know a lot about such things. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
