Monday, November 09, 2009Elias Rankings releasedPosted by Dan NovickSince the Elias rankings were back-calculated last year by Eddie Bajek of Tigers Thoughts, there should be less excitement regarding the release the the Elias free agent compensation rankings. There was a whole lot of outrage two seasons ago, and still a little last season, when the rankings were released. Orlando Hudson a type-B last year? We knew well in advance that it would happen. Regardless, here are the official Elias Rankings for this off-season. Feel free to voice your complaints in the comments. (h/t: MLBTR) Dan Novick is a lifelong Yankees fan, and still gets the chills every time Enter Sandman plays from the Yankee Stadium speakers. He welcomes comments and questions via e-mail. Comments

That’s due largely to Elias’ refusal to quantify a player’s defensive contribution. Posted 11/09 at 07:02 PM

I got a few players wrong, and it’s looking like it had to do with my positional algorithm not quite matching. If anybody finds the full rankings, feel free to let me know ((JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)). Thanks. Posted 11/09 at 09:18 PM

How exactly is Melvin Mora a type A while guys like Carl Crawford and Vlad are type B?!?
