Joel Pineiro designated for assignment
Posted by David Gassko
Finally. This has to be one of the worst moves the Red Sox have ever made, simply because it never looked good. Not when they signed him, not when he gave up two hits and a run against the Kansas City Royals on opening day, and not now, as Pineiro has struck out 4.9 batters per game and walked 3.4 thus far this season. Those numbers, by the way, are almost identical to Pineiro's statistics in 2005 and 2006. Good riddance!
