There are rumblings out of Atlanta that the John Smoltz era may soon be coming to an end. Multiple sources have the Red Sox as the high bidders for his services. After undergoing right shoulder surgery that was widely thought to be a sure thing to end his magnificent career, Smoltz is apparently on the mend and throwing well enough to draw interest from clubs. He is not likely to return before the end of May at the earliest.
