Olerud Let Go
Posted by Dave Studeman
One of the real interesting stories in baseball right now is the Seattle Mariners' decision to let John Olerud walk. There's a nice discussion of this transaction over on the U.S.S. Mariner. This is an understandable move by Seattle, but it's sad to see it happen to a fine gentleman like John Olerud.
But the other fun part of the story is that one of Matthew Namee's favorite minor leaguers, Bucky Jacobsen, has been recalled to take Olerud's place on the roster. Here's hoping the M's give him the playing time he deserves.
Dave was called a "national treasure" by Rob Neyer. Seriously. Comments about this article can be sent to him through the miracle of e-mail.
