Stardom Before Smirnoff?

Posted by Bryan Smith
Over at All-Baseball, myself and the other guys on the site are having an interesting discussion on the ESPN cover boy, Miguel Cabrera. The kid came from the depths of the minors last year, and now he’s become a top 100 pick in fantasy drafts. Do yourself a favor and stop to read our analysis on the youngster, and our projections of his performance.

I noticed that only twenty players have combined .260, 20 doubles and ten home runs before legally touching alcohol. Eleven of those players are already in the Hall of Fame, and Griffey and A-Rod completed the feat as well. Cabrera is one of the bright young stars in baseball today, but as Aaron has proven, you might want to wait a year to jump on the bandwagon.
