Visual Baseball:  AJ Burnett’s Downward slide

Happy Friday! Here's a look at AJ Burnett's season, courtesy of Pitch Code. To those who aren't familiar with PitchCode, the lines represent walks or hits, with line thickness indicating power (ie. walks and singles are the thinnest, homeruns are the thickest). Extra base hits seem to be a big part of his demise...

It’s not the XBH that’s killing him, it’s the national broadcasts.  Don’t ask me why, but the man pitches like Greg Madduz on local New York boradcasts, but more like Greg Reynolds on nationwide TV. 

Unfortunately, tommorw night he faces the Dodgers on FOX.

That’s a nice article Travis. There was an article on THT a year or two ago that somewhat concluded his pitch selection patterns were his downfall but maybe he really is just a head-case.
