Thursday, June 03, 2004Henri Stanley updateWell, my boy Henri Stanley has yet to start hitting for Pawtucket. He's proven he can hit, but since joining the Red Sox organization, Stanley has batted just .205/.239/.295 in 44 AB. While we're on the subject of my favorite players, Padres manager Bruce Bochy has given Jon Knott only three at-bats so far. Knott is 0-for-3, but good grief, give the guy a chance! What are you worried about, Bruce? Hurting Terrence Long's feelings? A Must For Draft MavensIf you're interested in the draft, you owe it to yourself to waste a pile of time over at mlb.com, which has the best draft information available without a subscription. Their Draft Tracker is an incredible resource; it has capsule scouting reports on hundreds of players from MLB's centrally-based scouts (the page I linked to above has reports on three potential first-rounders - reliever Huston Street of Texas, catcher Kurt Suzuki of Fullerton State, and outfielder B. J. Szymanski of Princeton). But even better, it has video of hundreds of players as well, giving you a chance to scout some of these guys for yourself. Their Draft Central has stories and other information. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
