The Schedule that Remains

I took a look at the remaining schedule for each of the pennant contenders. Here's a list of the Offensive Winning Percentage of each contender's opposing teams, starting with tomorrow's games and continuing through the rest of the season. First, the crazy AL West:
Team Games OWP
OAK 32 .503
ANA 32 .506
TEX 33 .519
The schedule doesn't have much impact there. Here's the NL West:
Team Games OWP
SFG 29 .470
LAD 32 .497
SDP 32 .505
The Giants, who play the Rockies, Diamondbacks and Brewers over the next two weeks, have a bit of an advantage here. If the race gets closer, there will be dynamite action the last two weeks of the season, when the Dodgers and Giants play two of their last three series against each other.

Here's the AL Wildcard race:
Team Games OWP
ANA 32 .506
BOS 32 .511
TEX 33 .519
Again, it doesn't look like the schedule gives any one team much of an advantage. Here's the NL wildcard:
Team Games OWP
SFG 29 .470
CHC 31 .482
FLO 32 .501
HOU 31 .502
SDP 32 .505
Same deal with the Giants. But the Cubs also have an advantageous schedule going forward, as they play series against the Expos, Mets, Reds and Pirates.

Ranger Spotlight

Today's Team Spotlight focuses on the Texas Rangers. Can a team still be called surprising if they're competing for first in late August?
