Gallardo has a torn ACL

Yovani Gallardo has a torn ACL in his right knee after a collision with Reed Johnson at first base in yesterday's start. No word yet on the plans for surgery. He was able to pitch two innings afterwards so maybe they'll just go without it for now. Surgery would likely chew up most of Gallardo's 2008 season.

Kyle Boddy has a critique of our two articles on throwing mechanics posted today (one on Ben Sheets and the other on throwing mechanics in general). Kyle is articulate, as usual. There is obviously not a consensus on "the right" pitching mechanics, on the Internet or elsewhere, and open dialog like this is in everyone's best interests.
