Season - And Perhaps Career - Over for Smoltz

Posted by Chris Neault
Two days following his return to the Atlanta bullpen, it is being announced that Smoltz will likely undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder. A press conference is scheduled for 11:30 AM ET. On my Disabled List Informer site, I had been talking for weeks about how this was a bad situation for Smoltz. I hope this is not the case, but it is possible that 2008 will be the last time we see Smoltz on the mound.

There’s a draft

Posted by Dave Studeman
Baseball's amateur draft will be held tomorrow, and there's lots of good reading on the web. The original champions of amateur and minor league baseball, Baseball America, covers the draft extensively. MLB has their own section, and minor league maven John Sickels has plenty of draft coverage too.

A few other great sources are ESPN.com, Perfect Game, Saber Scouting, and Baseball Analysts.

THT will provide its own draft analysis after the dust settles.
