Posted by Dave Studeman Bill James Online has a nice function, in which Bill takes the "temperature" of each major league hitter, a measure of how well that hitter has been hitting lately. The scale is built so that 72 degrees is normal, and 100 degrees is really, really hot.
There are at least five players who are over 100 degrees right now. They are:
King Albert Pujols: 107
Miguel Cabrera: 106
Todd Helton: 106
Victor Martinez: 104
and...
A.J. Pierzynski: 102
A.J. is 12 for 20 in his last five games, with two home runs. This I did not know.
Dave was called a "national treasure" by Rob Neyer. Seriously. Comments about this article can be sent to him through the miracle of e-mail.
