All-Star Week at THT Fantasy

Posted by Derek Carty at 2:00am

With All-Star Week upon us, we thought we'd shake things up a little bit here at THT Fantasy. This week, we've asked each of our writers to discuss one player at each position that they feel will be a good second half bargain relative to their play in the first half. Your opinions and comments on the selections of our writers will of course be welcome, and feel free to give us your own second-half sleepers. Today, you'll find Troy Patterson's list with the rest of the THTF team following throughout the week.

I'd also like to take this time to thank all of you for your support through the first half of the season, and I wish you the best of luck in your fantasy leagues as the season begins to wind down. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please feel free to send me an e-mail.

Derek Carty is a 22-year old fantasy baseball analyst residing in New Jersey. In addition to writing for THTF, his work has appeared at Rotoworld (NBC), Sports Illustrated, FOX Sports, and Heater Magazine. In his two years competing in expert leagues, he has won 2 titles with 4 four top three finishes, including a LABR NL title in 2009, making him the youngest person to ever win a major expert league title. Derek is a proud graduate of the MLB Scouting Bureau's Scout Development Program and is a firm believer in the importance of combining stats and scouting. He welcomes questions via e-mail.

Will you be writing a piece on second-half bargains, Derek?

Either way, should be a good week. Thanks.

Here are my thoughts for a team of prospective comeback kids of varying levels of awesomeness and availability:

C - Iannetta

1b - Berkman/Loney

2b - Kendrick

SS - S. Drew/Rollins

3b - Gordon/Encarnacion

OF - Quentin/C. B. Young/Ethier/Bradley/LaPorta/Francoeur!! (totally kidding on the last one, threw it in there for us mets fans…)

SP - C. Buchholz/Hamels (undervalued currently, perhaps)/Price (figuring it out?)

RP - Howell/N. Feliz/R. Soriano (maybe too late already, a la Nolasco)
