Greetings From Derek Carty
by Derek CartyMay 28, 2007
Hello everyone!
This is the first official post of THT Fantasy Focus! My name is Derek Carty; you’ll be hearing a lot from me in the coming months. I used to run an independent Fantasy Baseball blog called The Saberoticians, but when the Hardball Times asked me to write for their new Fantasy blog, I came running. I’d again like to say thank you to Dave Studeman, David Gassko, Bryan Tsao, and the rest of the THT crew for inviting me over here.
When discussing players, you will find that I don’t give subjective opinions. There are plenty of them out there, but I find that looking at meanigful stats is the best way to win a Fantasy Baseball Championship. If you ever have any questions about anything I write, or have a question specific to your own fantasy team, I encourage you to e-mail me.
You’ll notice that there are several posts prior to this one. These were taken from last week’s posts to my original blog. You can read the rest of the posts from April and May over there - for now - if you wish, and I believe we’ll be putting them up on here shortly, for your convenience.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to a fruitful remainder of the season with you guys. Again, drop me a line if you have any questions! I’ll talk to you soon!
Derek Carty, 23, has also been published by NBC's Rotoworld, Sports Illustrated, FOX Sports, and USA Today. This season, he'll be contributing to FanDuel and will be linking to all of his work at DerekCarty.com. In his three years competing in expert leagues, he has won 2 titles with 4 top three finishes, including a LABR NL title in 2009, making him the youngest person to ever win a major expert league title. Derek is a proud graduate of the MLB Scouting Bureau's Scout Development Program and is a firm believer in the importance of combining stats and scouting. He welcomes questions via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter.
